Okay so the media bashed Brett Favre for retiring and coming back, the Green Bay Packer fans welcomed him with open arms, but then the organization refused to "give" him the starting role. So he decided to go his separate ways like any man with pride would do, or in this case Super Man, the best quarterback to ever strap on a helmet in every statistic that matters.

With 17 seasons behind him and a rocky ending last year with the New York Jets, Favre decided to retire again, and this time no one knew if he would really come back or not. But when the opportunity to see the cheese head nation he helped build twice in one season came knocking at his door, literally, Favre couldn't resist signing with the Minnesota Vikings.

Who could blame him? He has the best running back in all of the NFL behind him in Adrian Peterson and a solid offensive line returning two Pro Bowlers in front of him. Not to mention a stout defense tops amongst the NFL last year and an array of new young wide outs like Florida's own Percy Harvin. Most Packers fans were coming out and saying if Brett did it, he would be a disgrace and a traitor to everyone who wore the Packer uniform. Lo and behold he signed, and the Packers fans have stood their ground.

Packers fans have burned Favre jerseys, thrown out memorabilia, one went as far as setting a box of items he collected over Favre's 16 illustrious years outside his locker in disgust. This came four weeks after Favre played lights out against the Pack in their first meeting on Monday night, though the 30-23 victory was sweet, Favre claimed revenge was not motivation. There was a lot of hype surrounding his return to Lambeau Field, and rightfully so. Everyone wanted to know what kind of ovation he would get and whether or not fans truly did hate him.

The boo birds flew high but there were a fair share of cheers swirling around from fans as well. If anyone enjoyed watching the way Favre played the game it would be these very same Green Bay fans he did so much for his entire career. Favre won't retire as a Viking even if he wins the Super Bowl with them and that's what the "Favre Haters" as he calls them seem to forget. Just as he has done in the years past, Favre threw the ball all over the yard racking up four touchdown passes en route to yet another victory against his division rivals. This convincing 38-26 win not only stamps them as the best team in the NFC North but churns talk of a possible Super Bowl run for Favre and the Vikings.

Favre being able to do what he has done this year, and to his former team twice, should send a message to those that oppose him and his intent. He has a love for the game that will live on beyond him. At his eldest, 40 years, young he can still play the game like he did when he was 20. Rivals or not, everyone should respect what he is doing and his decision to keep playing until he felt like it was time to walk away. No one criticized Michael Jordan when he came back twice. Let the greats be great, any future Hall of Famer should have that right. Green Bay fans should be proud of him knowing the circumstances he was put in being forced out of town. If the Packers organization wasn't kicking themselves in the cheese head knowing they let an all time great go, I bet they are now.
