Starting this Wednesday the 22nd through Sunday the 27th, the Bloomsburg University Players will be performing their annual showcase, An Evening of Ten Minute Plays. The plays, "Just Be Frank," "Going Nowhere Apace," "Double Take," and "Slop Culture" are all directed by Bloomsburg alumni and feature students who have never before acted in a Bloomsburg Players production. All of the directors of the plays this year are Bloomsburg University Alumni.

"Just Be Frank"

"Just Be Frank" is a lighthearted comedy about what happens when a girl uses brutal honesty at the office. Director Jennifer Bushinger, an ‘07 graduate, says that the cast is a very strong ensemble, and they "aren't afraid to make bold choices even in absurdity."

"Going Nowhere Apace"

"Going Nowhere Apace" details the trials of an unsuccessful, yet enthusiastic, Casanova-type played by freshman Phil Czekner, who director Renee Fawess (class of ‘04), says "carries the show by exhibiting a wide range of emotions-- Phil goes from manic to shy to outgoing, all in a few minutes."

"Double Take"

In "Double Take," two lifelong friends must cope and deal in the morning after their one night stand. An ‘07 graduate, director Abigail Lottie, says that the cast of four is "very good as a group. They play off each other well."

"Slop Culture"

Last but certainly not least is "Slop Culture," the story of a girl with a troubled childhood that goes through a Gilligan's Island-esque identity crisis. Director Toni-Ann Yates, an ‘02 graduate, says to be on the lookout for sophomore Andrew Hughes, who plays Brian, saying, "Andrew is hilarious and has excellent comedic timing."

Shows run from September 23rd to 27th. Wednesday through Saturday, shows start at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday's shows are at 3:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. All shows are in the Theatre Lab which is located in the rear of the the University bookstore building. Admission is free with a valid BU ID. This would be a fabulous time to come out and see newcomers to BU's stage in four short hilarious plays - it's the first production of the season and perfect for first-time theatre patrons and seasoned theatre-goers alike!
