As I flip through the channels and see sweaty men battling one another to compete for various titles in boxing rings and on football fields, I cannot help but ask myself, “Would they be man enough to compete on stage for the title of Mr. Bloomsburg?”

The Mr. Bloomsburg competition, hosted by the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA), will put 12 Bloomsburg men to the test in the male pageant to be held at 7 p.m. on April 5. Instead of men sweating as they typically do during their competitions, this pageant will give the women in the audience an opportunity to sweat while watching the men compete. The all-male pageant will feature the talents and good looks of a variety of men as they fight for the crown.

Contestants will fight for prizes, the crown, and a chance to help earthquake victims. A percentage of proceeds from the event and the fundraising efforts leading to the event will be donated to earthquake victims in Haiti to help provide medical support, funds to reconstruct buildings, and to rebuild their lives.

The Mr. Bloomsburg competition will feature five female judges, including select students, professors, and a guest judge from the audience, who will judge the men on the following categories: swimwear, formal wear, talent, and a question and answer portion. The men will be awarded for various categories including a Mr. Congeniality award and will be awarded with prizes based on their placement in the pageant.

Vice-President of PSSRA Heather Delp hopes females will help out by bringing along their favorite guy to compete in the competition.
This competition is for the guys, but ladies, we still need your help too. Do you know someone that would be perfect for this competition? Is your boyfriend the life of the party? Recruit a guy and drag them to auditions, because you won’t want to miss out on the prizes, featuring great date-night-packages. And boys, put your pride aside, have fun, help a good cause, and get a chance to win some great prizes.”

All men interested in competing for the title are urged to sign-up in the Mass Communications department (McCormick 1210) for the preliminary auditions on Tuesday, Feb. 23 and Wednesday Feb. 24 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in Studio A (McCormick 1259.) Competitors must come prepared to perform their talent to a group of student judges from PRSSA. To be eligible to compete, men must be able to attend an audition and the final competition.

For more information, prize updates, and to find out who the 12 contestants will be, visit the Mr. Bloomsburg Talent Competition fan page at www.facebook.com/Mr.Bloomsburg and become a fan, encourages Delp.
