Many students at Bloomsburg University have never heard of one of the most important groups on campus, the Program Board. This group is responsible for most of the activities that help to make our campus a more exciting and enjoyable place. Most of the events on campus are sponsored by Program Board, and Bloomsburg students pay for Program Board in their fees every year, so it only goes to show that we should begin to take advantage of all they do for us.

The Program Board is composed of over 150 general members with a 12 member executive board. There are eight executive members that head committees in charge of the major aspects of Program Board and the events they sponsor.

The major aspects that students may have heard of include Dance, tTavel, Public Relations, Special Events, Films, Hospitality, Bingo/Games and Sound Stage. The general members can also participate any way that they would like and remain very involved throughout the entire semester. Other executive members include the President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer.   According to Lisa Lapina, Public Relations Chair for Program Board, Program Board not only provides students with an opportunity to take part in events on campus, but they also take suggestions on what students would like to see happen on campus in the future.

Some of the events sponsored by Program Board include the monthly Midnight Pizza in the Kehr Union, New York City Trips, Nintendo Wii tournaments, recent films shown every Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, line dancing, Siblings' and Children's Weekend, and Ballroom Blitz. They make a banner for Homecoming each year and also participate in the parade. Program Board works to keep a good relationship with the community of Bloomsburg by taking part in the Renaissance Jamboree every spring in April.

Aubrie Caprio, the President of Program Board, knows that Program Board offers much more than just fun events. She has learned as President that Program bBard offers great leadership opportunities. She says that she has also learned time management skills in her time as President. Additionally, she says that her public speaking skills have improved, as well as learning what it means to be part of a large organization. Adding to her experience, she points out that some of her best friends were made through Program Board.

Program Board is a group that any ambitious student can participate in. They are looking for creative people who care about campus and what happens there. The meetings take place once a month in the Kehr Union, and the meetings also include food and raffle prizes. Lapina said that she worked with Program Board for two years, and that being involved in this organization has taught her time management and problem solving skills. "I recommend this club to anyone and everyone because you can do as much or as little as you want to stay involved…students do not get penalized for not coming to meetings and it honestly is fun…" she explained.
