Here we are at the end of the first week of classes. You may be asking yourself what kinds of extracurricular activities you would like to join. Are you an English major? Would you like to get some editing experience? Do you like bunnies? If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, you would be a great addition to the staff of Warren, Bloomsburg University's Literary Arts Journal.
Warren has been in existence under various names for about 15 years. It is an outlet for amateur student artists to display their own poetry, artwork or short fiction/ non-fiction. Submissions are generally due by the end of January, for possible publication in the Journal in mid-April.
Staff members serve as readers, who review submissions; graphic designers, who basically organize the submissions into an aesthetically pleasing arrangement in the finished Journal; or editors.
Staff members are expected to attend meetings, but membership is not intended to be overwhelming or time-consuming.
The more members who decide to join, the less work there is to delegate. Membership on the staff of a journal such as this is also a great resume booster. Anyone interested in becoming a part of the staff for this year's journal may attend the first meeting, which will be announced at a later time. Meetings are usually held in the University Writing Center, Bakeless 206.
