The Bloomsburg Fair is something to look forward to all year for the people around the area. Filled with food, rides, games and attractions such as musical artists, side shows, crafts and agricultural exhibits the fair has something to offer everyone.
"I loved it. It is such a fun experience with good games and food," freshman Jackie Miller said. "It is a nice place to go to with someone you care about."
While enjoying the fair, many people take pleasure in watching all of the different types of people around them. Sophomore Dawn DiBello says the fair is "an interesting place to go to and watch the people."
Many people have fun just sitting on the benches observing what people are wearing, what food they eat, how they act while playing the games, and how they interact with the people around them.
"I go to the fair to look at the people, watch the infomercials and eat the food, especially Bissenger's apple dumplings," sophomore Amy Chronister said.
Food is another big part of the fair. Numerous people attend the fair just for the food. The Bloomsburg Fair has a stand for almost every kind of food. If you are looking for meal options there are cheesesteaks, pizza, strombolis, fried vegetables, barbequed items, chicken fingers, gyros, hot dogs, hamburgers and more. Dessert choices include cotton candy, candy apples, funnel cakes, ice cream, apple dumplings, fried Oreos and the list continues.
The Bloomsburg Fair is much larger than a lot of the local fairs most of the college students are used to going to. On Saturday, there was a new record of 91,241 people in attendance at the fair.
"The Bloomsburg Fair is a worldly experience compared to the Oley Fair in Reading, Pennsylvania," sophomore Angela Carter said.
It seems as though fair enthusiasm has improved from prior years.
"This year's fair wasn't as much of a let down as I thought it might be," sophomore Steve Lundy said. "Everyone seemed to have a good time and the food was excellent. All we need now is to have off on college-student-free day!"
The fair is something to experience with friends and family in order to appreciate the environment of games, rides, food and shows. One trip might not allow for enough time to realize all there is to offer, so multiple trips may be needed.
