In defense to rushing Greek

I suppose that you had some kind of question if you figured that "Rushing Greek is not the answer."
I myself am a member of the Greek community. I am also choosing to stay anonymous because I'd like to represent the Greeks in Bloomsburg, as a whole.
In defense of the brothers at Zeta Beta Tau (ZBT), I believe they had a successful rush this fall. So I say again for them, "How about a revolution…" Last time I remember, revolution means to revolt or go against. To me, they were saying revolt against other fraternities, and choose ZBT. I understood it, why didn't you, Nick Stachokus? Also, I'd like to defend the sisters of Chi Sigma Rho (CSR). Please, if you're going to write against a group, you might want to get the group's name correct first. Chi Sigma Rho was merely trying to stand out and be different, not ordinary.
It's really a shame that you think Greek brothers and sisters are only drinking buddies. I'm not going to deny that we drink and socialize together, but don't you have friends that you socialize with also? We are people just like everyone else and enjoy the company of others. After a long week of studying and working, wouldn't you like to hang out with your friends?
Aside from the social aspects of Greek life, there is community service. Fraternities and sororities have donated their time and money to helping out the community we live in. Last winter for example, the brothers of Alpha Tau Omega (ATW) helped decorate the town for the holiday season. I do remember seeing their picture on the front page of the paper. Or, how about the sisters of Phi Sigma Sigma (FSS) and the brothers of Delta Kappa Epsilon (DKE) when they joined together to hold a week of community service activities? Those activities included fundraisers for the National Kidney Foundation and the American Heart Association and volunteering time to be with the kids who showed up for Teen Night at the Bloomsburg YMCA.
I'm sure that you have a close-knit group of friends here at Bloomsburg and I'm sure they feel very much like family. My fraternity is like my family. The guys I hang out with every day are my best friends. Much like my family, we eat together, study together, look out for one another and help each other in times of need. I know for sure that I will be talking to all my fraternity brothers after the college scene is all said and done.
I love your idea of pledging. Pledge and you can party with us. Too bad that's not how it works. Maybe if you'd ever attended a rush event, you might know a little more about Greek life. I think that first semester freshman who have rushed, know more about the Greek system than you do as a senior.
As for your question about how many of my Greek brothers did I stay in touch with over the summer, honestly I'd have to say I talked to at the very least, one brother a day. Additionally, we were also able to be found every other weekend or so out in Bloomsburg visiting and just hanging out. So, you were right about one thing, and that is being wrong.
The best rush slogan I ever saw said, "From the outside looking in you can't understand it, and from the inside looking out you can't explain it."
