Issue date: 11/1/07 Section: news
Mike Super, an illusionist and magician who can
currently be seen on the new NBC hit show, Phenomenon,
Wednesdays at 8 p.m., will perform during Parents and
Family Weekend on Saturday, November 3, 2007 at the
Haas Center for the Arts in Mitrani Hall at 7 p.m. He
puts on an interactive magic and illusion show where
he does tricks such as levitating audience members off
the ground without any connection, makes it snow from
his bare hands and breathes life into a piece of
ordinary paper which dances into a complete stranger_s
hands.
According to Mike Super's website, "The magic of Mike
Super is more than just a show! It is theater in its
purist sense, with the built in benefit of universal
appeal. During the show, Mike shares a personal part
of himself all the while restoring that long forgotten
child-like wonder that anything is possible."
The production certainly creates amazement, but Mike
believes that amazement is never enough. He takes the
audience on a rollercoaster ride of various
emotions: laughter, intrigue, fear, anticipation, tears
and sentimentality. People leave the performance
knowing more not only about Mike but themselves as
well.
Mike Super not only performs on stage, but does
close-up magic too. He is known to be a master of
sleight of hand, and after seeing Mike's close-up
magic, many people begin asking themselves whether
what they_ve just seen was real magic or not. He is
unique and is like no other magician before him. His
magic is best described as a fusion of performance art
and personal interactions.
According to Mr. Randall Presswood, Director of
the Celebrity Art Series, tickets costs $20.00 for
