"That was the coolest thing I've ever seen!" exclaimed sophomore Kyle Smith moments after Brady's Bunch quarterback Joseph Crostarosa fired a behind the back spiral twenty yards to the back of the end zone, where it was caught one-handed by Dave Latorre for the two-point conversion. The acrobatic play was just one of many that propelled Brady's Bunch to their second consecutive Bloomsburg Intramural Flag Football championship Tuesday night on upper campus.
After going undefeated in the regular season, Brady's Bunch reached the final game for the fourth straight semester, where they faced off against the up-and-coming Magnum XL squad who had an impressive season of their own.
The game started off with aggressively play calling by Magnum XL, who decided to go for it on 4th and long on the very first drive of the game. The move certainly paid off, however, as Magnum's quarterback narrowly avoided two blitzing pass-rushers to fire a bomb to a wide-open receiver for the game's first score.
Brady's Bunch answered right back with a deep strike of their own, scoring a touchdown on their second offensive play of the game and converting the two-point try for an early 8-7 lead, a lead they would hold for the rest of the game.
Captain Joseph Crostarosa stated, "I think it was really important to score on our opening drive considering that was the first time we were behind all season and I saw a couple of guys on the team with stunned faces. So it was very important that we marched down the field with a quick score of our own."
On the ensuing drive, Magnum XL again found themselves in a 4th and long scenario and again opted to go for it, after achieving success on their first try. This time around, however, a high snap killed their drive, turning the ball over to Brady's Bunch near the twenty-yard line. The defending champions capitalized on this great field position by promptly scoring another touchdown to put them ahead 14-7 after a missed two-point conversion.
