Donating blood is something that almost all of us can
do; we just do not take time out of our schedules to
help the great foundation that is The American Red
Cross. You are probably thinking that there are
millions of people who donate, but that IS NOT TRUE!
We need your help; millions of people need your help.
The American Red Cross organization is holding a Blood
Drive on campus, Thursday November 29th, 2007 from 12
p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Ballroom of the Kehr Union
Building.
For those of you looking for an incentive to donate
blood, what about the incentive to save another
individual_s life? There are approximately 8,000
students attending Bloomsburg University, yet less
than five percent of the student population donates
blood! The university makes up a majority of the
percentage of the population in the town of Bloomsburg
and only a mere twenty percent of the total blood
donations come from the students her on campus. These
statistics are not only disappointing, they are
humiliating, considering the morals and standards
upheld by our University_s reputation. The Bloomsburg
University homepage claims that, _BU students are
especially fond of social causes, centered on campus
and in town, and are quick to volunteer for everything
from Red Cross blood drives to Habitat for Humanity
and helping community children to raising money for a
number of charities._ This statement is sadly not an
accurate reflection of the actions of many students
and faculty on campus towards the American Red Cross
Blood drives.
Whether you have been donating for years, or are a
first time donor, The American Red Cross is committed
to providing a positive and memorable experience.
There will be refreshments and live entertainment for
all who will be participating in this vital cause. If
you have any questions concerning donations, please
stop by the drive on November 29th and ask an American
Red Cross representative. There will be many qualified
people on had to assist you. As we raise awareness, on
pint at a time, we help numerous people. Please, make
time to stop by and donate; it is the easiest way to
save someone_s life.
