As rumors continue to circulate about a possible gun-related incident located inside the 300 building of the Honeysuckle apartments, details remain sketchy about what exactly occurred during the pre-dawn hours on Saturday, Sept.12.
Honeysuckle administrators have been hesitant to release any information about the incident because the investigation remains open and residents have received no official word regarding the incident.
According to Bob Hetherington, spokesman for the Honeysuckle Student Apartments, “We want to make sure whatever we say to our residents is factual, and that we want to get the facts clear about the situation before we let out any information.”
“Residents and staff are cooperating with the Bloomsburg Police Department as authorities continue to investigate an incident which occurred in the early morning hours of Saturday,” continued Hetherington
According to an eyewitness, an altercation among guests developed inside one resident’s apartment.
"Subsequently, officers of the Bloomsburg Police Department visited the apartment, took an individual who was not a student or resident into custody and recovered an unloaded weapon from him,” stated Hetherington.
According to Hetherington, the victim, who remains unidentified at the moment after failing to leave a name, called police and stated that they had a gun shown to them while in the 300 building of Honeysuckle.
“It hasn’t been clear what the situation was,” said Hetherington. “Concerned students and parents have been able to call if they wanted to (questions with or concerns).
The investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed at this time, according to the Bloomsburg Police Department.
