Bloomsburg University's women's lacrosse team defeated Shippensburg University with a final score of 14-7 at the Sports Stadium yesterday. This victory guarantees BU has a spot in the PSAC tournament

At the start of the game, Shippensburg won control of the draw, but a turnover committed by Shippensburg gave Bloomsburg an opportunity to score. Senior Kim Springman capitalized on this opportunity by scoring the first goal of the game. Her goal came on an assist from junior Tia Mazzie. Once Shippensburg gained control of the ball they took a shot on goal that was deflected by a BU defender. The Huskies picked up the ground ball and cradled the ball to the goal, yet a missed pass led to a turnover. Shippensburg fielded the ground ball and charged to the net. At the 22:23 mark Shippensburg scored to tie the game. In response, Bloomsburg score three consecutive goals. However, Shippensburg broke the Huskies' scoring streak and scored two goals to only trail by a goal. After a time out, the Huskies came out ready to play. Sophomore Samantha King scored with an assist from sophomore Allie Kakareka. Then at the eight minute mark, Kakareka swerved around Shippensburg's defenders and put the ball into the net, giving the Huskies a 6-3 lead. Before the end of the first half, Bloomsburg went on to score four more goals to take a 10-4 lead into halftime.

In the second half, Bloomsburg scored first when Mazzie netted the eleventh goal of the game. However, Shippensburg would come back and score two more goals in a row. Bloomsburg kept the lead and even increased it when they went on a four-goal streak towards the end of the half. As time was running out, BU kept control of the ball and continued to pressure Shippensburg's defense, although they already had a comfortable lead. Once BU entered the shooting range, they made cuts in and out of the circle until the opportunity came for a shot, but the game ended before they could score. Bloomsburg hits the field again on Saturday when they host Kutztown.
