The Bloomsburg University baseball team lost three of its four games to Kutztown this past weekend as part of a home and home series, falling to 14-28 on the season.

In game one of the Saturday double header, the Huskies fell behind in the first inning, but Bloomsburg senior Tony Donofry tied the game up with a lead off solo home run in the bottom of the inning. Kutztown led off the second inning with a home run, and an inning later, took a 5-1 lead on a three-run homer. Kutztown added a run in each of the next two innings, before going scoreless in the sixth and seventh.

Bloomsburg scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to cut the lead to 7-3, but failed to get any closer. Bloomsburg southpaw Grant Kernaghan pitched five innings, giving up seven runs, walking one, and striking out seven in the loss.

In game two, Bloomsburg again fell victim to the early long ball, as Kutztown would take a 1-0 lead on a first inning solo home run. In the fourth inning, BU's Gino Wise walked with two outs, and Seth Pauling followed with a single. A throwing error would allow Bloomsburg to score its first run of the contest, tying the game at one heading into the fifth.

Kutztown would recapture the lead in the top of the fifth, scoring three runs to take a 4-1 lead. Donofry doubled to lead off the fifth, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and scored on Chris Tressler's sacrifice fly. The wheels came off for the Huskies in the top of the sixth, however, as Kutztown scored six runs to all but put the game away.

Vinny Voorhees earned the loss for the Huskies, giving up eight earned runs on 14 hits and two walks. He struck out four in the contest.

In game one of Sunday's double header, Bloomsburg fell victim to a stellar pitching performance, getting no hits in a 13-0 loss. Tressler went four innings, giving up eight runs, six of them earned, on eight hits earning the loss. He was relieved by Mitch Troy, who gave up five runs on six hits.

In game two of the twinbill, Joe Crossin pitched a complete game, giving up two runs in the Huskies' only win of the weekend. Crossin worked out of a first inning, bases loaded jam to keep the score tied at nothing, and would work out of another bases loaded jam in the third, after giving up two runs.

In the top of the third, Jarrod Kramer's RBI single gave the Huskies their first lead of the weekend, but they would lose the lead in the bottom of the frame. Bloom's Jerry Lloyd tied the game in the sixth inning, with a lead off home run. In the seventh the Huskies attacked, as center fielder Devin McLaughlin and Keith Meyer singled before Donofry bounced into a fielders choice to force Meyer out at second. Donofry stole second, and Tressler walked to load the bases. McLaughlin scored on a wild pitch to give Bloomsburg a one run lead heading into the bottom of the seventh.

Kutztown was retired in order in the seventh, giving Crossin the complete game win. Crossin allowed just two runs on six hits and six walks, while striking out nine in the victory.

Bloomsburg has just four games left in the season. The Huskies host a double header today, against Washington Adventist, and host another double header on Sunday, April 25, against Philadelphia.
