There was nothing golden about Kutztown University's Bears when the Husky women ripped them apart in an un-"bear"-able 7-2 defeat on Tuesday.

The victory comes as no surprise as the women have been on a hot bar, now having raised the streak to seven straight games won. The men went up against Kutztown University as well, and dropped all three of their doubles matches before the game was postponed until later today due to darkness. The men have won six out of their last seven match-ups, only losing to the Division 1 Penn State Nittany Lions.

Fernando Perez, junior, picked up the only win against the Nittany Lions at second singles, even when faced with a recent wrist injury.

"Playing Penn State is a match that gets my adrenaline pumping since you have nothing to lose playing against a Big Ten school. I left it all out there and came away with the win," Perez said.

Both the men and the women have won all of their conference match-ups since returning from spring break in Hawaii. They played Millersville on Saturday when the weather had cooled down from the temperatures that scorched earlier in the week. The men played hard into the afternoon and picked up a well-deserved 7-2 win, while the women one-upped the men losing only one match, with an 8-1 victory.

Ricky Dove, Fernando Perez, and Lee Wexler all posted easy wins in first, second, and third singles-play. They did not allow their opponents to score more than three games in any set.
The atmosphere of the game impressed Coach Coyne, and the way his Huskies fought against Millersville to grab both wins.

"It was a fun environment, conference matches are always a different element than regional matches or teams outside of our conference. There was a great crowd, and the doubles performed well for both sides. They really challenged us in doubles-play; they made us work for it. But in singles, we took care of business," Coyne said.

Ricky Dove, sophomore, and Katie Hasyn, senior, picked up PSAC's men's and women's Players of the Week titles through April 11. Dove went 6-1 in singles and doubles play, while Hasyn went 4-0. Dove's only loss was against Division 1 Penn State. This was the second week straight that Dove grabbed the award.

The Kutztown matches were to decide first and second place in the conference. The women are now 11-3 and sit atop the standings, while the men's placement will be decided today as they return to face Kutztown in singles-play. The Husky men are 10-4 overall, while the Kutztown men are 7-2 overall.

The match with the men reconvenes at 3:30 p.m. today at Kutztown.
