For most of the season, the Bloomsburg Huskies baseball team has been able to pitch and hit very well at different times throughout the season. The problem has consistently been putting pitching and hitting together in one game and put together a complete performance on back to back days. Following a four game stretch that saw the Huskies' bats light up the scoreboard, it looks like those days of incomplete performances from the plate can be put behind us.

The Huskies started off the weekend versus East Stroudsburg. Due to poor field conditions at East Stroudsburg, the game was moved to Bloomsburg, with the Warriors being designated as the home team. In game one, both teams were held scoreless until the fourth inning when the Warriors' Eric Boyer smacked an RBI double to give East Stroudsburg the early 1-0 lead. The Huskies bats came right back in the 5th as Devin McGaughlin and Joey Ianiero picked up back-to-back RBIs to give Bloomsburg the 2-1 advantage. Gino Wise swatted a solo home run just two innings later to give the Huskies a 3-1 lead. But the big story of game one on this day was pitcher Joe Crossin, who pitched brilliantly all day allowing only one run over 6.1 innings, as the Huskies went on to close it out 3-1.

In game two, the Huskies handled East Stroudsburg pitcher Mike Glassic, lighting him up for eight runs over three innings. Adding to the barrage of runs for the Huskies were Jerry Lloyd, Chris Tressler,Tony Donofry, and Eric Ebert, all who contributed RBIs along the way to give the Huskies the huge lead. After East Stroudsburg put two runs on the board the following inning, the Huskies bombarded the Warriors with seven runs in the sixth inning to take an insurmountable 15-2 lead. East Stroudsburg would add six runs in the final frame to make the final score 15-8 Huskies.

On Tuesday, the Huskies traveled to Shippensburg, where they took on the Red Raiders. In game one, the Huskies' Chris Tressler was absolutely lit up over the first two innings, giving up nine earned runs, giving Bloomsburg flashbacks to pitching problems in the early part of the season. Shippensburg built a 10-0 lead after two, all but taking the Huskies out of the game. The Huskies would come back to score five runs over the next five innings, but it was simply too much to overcome as the Huskies were downed in by a score of 10-5.

In game two, the Huskies got on the board early as a Donofry homer to give Bloomsburg the early advantage. In the next inning, Jarrod Kramer, Ianiero and Tressler kept the bats warm and extended the lead all with big hits to make it 7-0 Huskies. From there on out the Red Raiders started on a furious comeback, getting a three-run home run from Cody Kulp in the fourth and another run in the fifth to trim the Huskies lead to just three. But on this day the Huskies bats made sure there was going to be no chance of a Red Raider comeback as Corey Eishenhart brought home an RBI on a sac-fly and Lloyd finished it off with a two-run home run in the seventh to put Shipp away once and for all, 10-6. The Huskies are now sitting at 10-22 overall and 6-10 in the PSAC. It is important that they find a way to get at least three out of four from Mansfield, who they will play in a doubleheader this coming Friday and Saturday in a home and home. As the weather is getting warmer, so are the Huskies bats. Is it too little too late? Will the Huskies' be able to go on a late season run and make things interesting in the PSAC? All in all it makes for an intriguing home stretch to the season, and will show once and for all the true character of this team.
